Title: Cooler lid shakes
Post by: ROBSSLS6 on May 11, 2018, 10:56:34 PM
Hey guys new to this thread. Building my second cooler. I installed two 6x9 with a radio unit. Everything sounds good but the cooler lid shakes (makes rattling noise). If i press down in the middle of the lid it will stop shaking. What can i do to stop this?

You can get rubber hood latches or you can foam O fill the lid as they are hollow. If you foam O fill get the low expansion stuff and use very carefully too much will ruin the lid have relief holes and put weight on the top to keep it from warping up. The foam can create a lot of pressure.

I use the frost king weatherstripping (EPDM) from home depot and rubber T-latches.  My 2nd build i switched to more solid 70 qt lid (fits 60 qt coolers), cheap $20 upgrade.

I bought the frost king weather stripping and the rubber latches. Just need to install them. Thanks for info. What screws did you use for the rubber latches?

I use screws that have coarse threads and the threads are not shallow. Couldn't give you a part name as it's been awhile since I last built a cooler.
