My crew is excited to hop back in the river to relax, but we've always gone floating over the summer. I've got the itch right now to take a trip down to New Braunfels but I'm not sure if it will be too enjoyable if the water is still freezing cold from the "winter" and the temperature isn't too warm yet outside. When is the earliest time of year that you would consider jumping in that water for 5 hours?

it will be fine anytime after Memorial Day.  Your biggest concern now is the level of Canyon Lake.  Last year we had to raft because Canyon Lake was flooded and the river was flowing at 6000 cfs. The river is currently flowing around 4500 cfs which is way too high to tube.
