This all started about 2002 when a friend brought his cooler radio on a New Braunfels river trip. It had two marine speakers on the top lid, and a car CD player mounted inside all running off a motorcycle battery. We burned some mixed CD’s in hopes that we would have some music that everyone liked, and headed to New Braunfels. The idea of music on the river is great. People wanting to change the CD, or the song skipping on some light rapids is not so great. The next trip another friend wanted to bring his cooler radio. Similar design, except his head unit had an aux jack in the front. I found a waterproof case from otterbox for my Ipod and now we are ready for the river. I could sit in my tube and pick from (at the time) 20gb of music with out a skip. Just when I think we have the best setup on the river, someone floats by and asks, “Is that as loud as it gets?”. So it was time to build something a little better. The goal for this project is to get loud clean sound with some bass out of a cooler that fits in a rented tube.
